What you’ll make
A Share Sheet action called “Voice Memo → Text (Brain Dump)”. From the Voice Memos app, tap ••• → Share → Voice Memo → Text to import the recording into Brain Dump and get a clean Markdown note.
Steps
- Open the Shortcuts app and tap +. Name it “Voice Memo → Text (Brain Dump)”.
- Tap the settings icon → Add to Share Sheet → Accepts Audio.
- Add actions:
- Action: Get File from Shortcut Input.
- Action: Open App → Brain Dump (or Open URL if your build uses a custom URL scheme).
- Optional: Show Notification “Sent to Brain Dump: ”.
- In Share Sheet Types, keep it to Audio only. Save.
Pin to the top of Share Sheet
Open the Share Sheet in any app, scroll down → Edit Actions… → add the Shortcut to Favorites.
Troubleshooting
- If you don’t see the Shortcut in Voice Memos, make sure it accepts Audio and is added to the Share Sheet.
- First run may prompt for Files access; tap Allow.
- Very long recordings: trim silence in Voice Memos to reduce size before sharing.
